Last updated: March 25, 2026
Libar ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Yesian. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our service.
1. Data we collect
When you create an account we collect:
- Account information - first name, last name, email address, and a hashed password.
- Payment information - processed and stored by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Content you upload - PDF files, annotations (highlights, bookmarks, quotes, drawings), custom components, and uploaded assets (images, audio, video).
If you use Libar without an account (free tier), your data stays entirely in your browser's local storage and is never sent to our servers.
2. How we use your data
- To provide the service - storing and syncing your library across devices.
- To process payments via Stripe.
- To provide AI features - when you actively use AI features (Component Builder or AI Helper), the relevant page text is sent to our AI provider to generate responses. No data is sent to AI unless you initiate it. We do not use your content to train AI models.
- To respond to support requests sent through our contact form.
3. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Stripe - for payment processing.
- AI provider (Anthropic) - page text is sent only when you actively use AI features, subject to their data processing terms.
4. Data retention
We keep your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your data (books, annotations, components, files) is permanently removed from our servers.
5. Your rights
Under GDPR and applicable EU law you have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
- Export your data (available via the export feature).
- Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
6. Security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. All traffic is encrypted via HTTPS. Uploaded files are stored in isolated per-user storage.
